Reviewer comparing period-over-period financial ratios

Limited review engagement

Inquiry and analytical review of interim or annual statements when stakeholders need comfort short of a full audit opinion.

A limited review sits between a compilation and a full audit. We read the statements, compare ratios and trends to prior periods and budgets, and ask directed questions of management. We do not perform extensive substantive testing or issue an audit opinion.

Typical use: mid-year packages for lenders, group reporting packages for a parent overseas, or a first look at a newly acquired Taiwan subsidiary before the year-end audit cycle.

What you receive: a review report describing the limited nature of the work, plus a short memo on unusual fluctuations we could not resolve through inquiry alone.

Timeline: usually two to four weeks after we receive draft statements and supporting schedules.

Fees: quoted per period; lower than a statutory audit because sampling and confirmations are not required. Ask for an estimate if your lender has specified the review standard they expect.
