Preparing the PBC list before auditors arrive
A prepared-by-client (PBC) list is not a courtesy — it is the difference between fieldwork that finishes on schedule and a scramble in the final week before filing.
Start with the trial balance mapped to draft financial statement lines. Then attach bank reconciliations for every account that appears in cash, aged receivables and payables with subsequent-receipt testing in mind, and inventory rolls that bridge quantity systems to the general ledger.
For Taiwan trading companies, add bonded warehouse movement reports and customs declarations for shipments near year-end. Auditors will test cut-off; if your warehouse date and billing date disagree, flag it before we ask.
Contracts for significant sales, leases, and related-party purchases should be in a shared folder with a one-page index. Do not wait for a request on each document — the index alone saves a day of email.
Finally, name a single contact who can authorize confirmation letters. Banks and lawyers respond faster when the authorization is ready on day one of fieldwork.
